SAFARIS
AND GAME PARKS:
All of the most famous
game parks of Tanzania are in the Northern Region and a safari to the
parks usually starts from Arusha. We would be happy to take you there.
• Arusha
National Park:
Only 30 km Northwest from Arusha you will find a small but beautiful National
Park, also called "Serengeti Ndogo" (small Serengeti) with giraffs,
buffalos, zebras and many other animals in a beautiful landscape with
varies from steppe to jungle. It includes Mount Meru, 4566 m high. The
park is worth a visit, especially if you have just one day in Arusha.
• Tarangire Nationl Park:
West from Arusha, 105 km on taarmace road and another 7 km on dust road,
you come to the Tarangire National Park. On the way there, you can make
a stop at the Meseram Snake Farm and Maasai Cultural Museum. The park
comprises 2600 qkm and takes its name from the Tarangiere River, which
crosses it lengthwise, giving support to a large wildlife population during
the dry season. During this season, betweeen June and October, thousands
of animals including wildebeests, zebras, elands, elephants, buffaloes,
hartebeests and more migrate from the dry Maasai steppe to the Tarangiere
River. One lodge, two tented lodges and camjpsites are inside the park
and a dozen exclusive lodges and tented camps immediately outside its
borders.
•
Lake Manyara: Located 125 km west of Arusha
town, under the wall of the Great Rift Valley, Lake Manyara National
Park attainded its status in 1960. Again, you can make a stop at the
Snake Farm and Maasai Cultural Mueseum and you pass through the town
of Mto wa Mbu (Mosquito River) with many souvenier shops and a good
market.
| The
most famous spectacle in the park, 330 square km in size, of
which 230 is covered by the lake, is the tree-climbing lions,
which are occasionally seen relaxing on the branches of acacia
trees. Different accommodation is available near the park. |

• Ngorongoro
Crater:
About 50 km past Mto wa Mbu you will reach the edge of Ngorongoro
Crater, 2286 meters above sea level. It is the largest unbroken
caldera in the world and on the list of World Heritages sites of
the UNESCO. Surrounded by very steep walls rising 610 m from the
crater floor, this natural amphitheatre is the home of up to 25.000
larger mammals, almost half of them zebras and wildebeests. With
a little bit of luck, you might see the "Big Five" - elephant,
rihno, buffalo, lion and leopard. Several lodges can be found on
the crater rim.
